The Glass Igloos of Finland’s Hotel Kakslauttanen provide a truly unique experience – imagine gazing into the clear starry skies and experiencing the beauty of Northern Lights from the comfort of your cozy bed.
Located away from city lights on the shores of the Lehtojärvi Lake, these glass igloos provide a great view of the night sky. The igloos are available in two sizes – the smaller sized igloo (approximately 20 square meters) is ideal for couples while the larger sized igloo (approximately 33 square meters) is ideal for a family of four. Each igloo has its own toilet and shower and is heat insulated to ensure you are cosy and warm even when the temperature outside drops to -30° celsius. If you have a larger family, you might want to consider the Kelo-Glass igloos which is a combination of a log cabin made from Kelo pinewood and a glass igloo and can accommodate up to 6 people.
The activity options vary depending on whether you are visiting during the summer or winter. So while summer season activities include midnight sun spotting, gold panning, and whitewater kayaking, the winter season activities include reindeer safari, snowmobile safari and snow tank safaris.
The hotel has different prices for the winter and summer seasons, and you can make your reservations directly on Hotel Kakslauttanen’s website.
